1. What time did you get up this morning?
A little past nine. I was very proud of myself, I only hit snooze once.
Of course, I then learned that I could've slept for another fifteen minutes, due to a fire alarm at the schoolbuilding and class being delayed. Sigh!

2. Diamonds or pearls?
Woo-hoo, delicate and overly expensive rocks that, due to their small size, are way easy to lose!
Silver is my preference for jewelry --my ring and my ankh are both testement to that. I own a strand of pearls which is my default "OHSHIT I HAVE TO LOOK NICE SHIT WHAT DO I WEAR AROUND MY NECK?!" necklace, and it's quite pretty, but it's all I need. I hugely prefer glass beads to anything else, really.
Soyeah, neither.

3. What was the last film you saw at the cinema?
Uhhhhhhh...oh! Well, Rocky Horror, but besides that, shlock movie night with j7y and BDan. We saw "Don't go in the house!" and uhh...something else that involved drugs and turning into Turkeys.
Man, I suddenly really wish I owned that second one, just to make it my new Thanksgiving tradition to watch it. Yessss!

4. What is your favorite TV show?
Myeh. Probably Heroes, though only if I watch it in order. I really don't watch much tv at all. Oh! Doctor Who and Torchwood are good.
Actually, screw that. My all time favourite tv show is probably Black Books. Possibly Coupling. Oh British comedy, how I love thee.

5. What do you usually have for breakfast?
At home, a bowl of whatever highly sugared cereal we have with milk. At school, a bottle of apple juice, a bagel with cream cheese, and chips.

6. What is your middle name?
Ruth. I like that it has all kinds of tradition and whatnot, but beyond that it's a miserably plain name. My fictional self's middle name is Danae, not that she tells people. (power of names and All That)

7. What food do you dislike?
*shrugs* I tend to claim to eat everything, though that's not hugely true. I'm not a big fan of eating cows. Spicy mexican-type food tends to be bad (though I am growing to like spicy thai/chinese/etc-type food). Hershey's chocolate specifically and chocolate in general is not my favourite.

8. What is your favorite CD at the moment?
Hum. I'm listening to songs off Who Killed Amanda Palmer more than anything else, but as always, I listen to a lot of everything. Probably Astro-Capella, because it is *awesome*.

9. What kind of car do you drive?
Not yet. Zipcar eventually. If I had to have an actual car, it would be a mini-cooper by choice, and something with wicked good gas milage by practicality.

10. Favorite sandwich?
Tuna fish and fluff!
(Okay, no, I haven't had that in years, hush) I don't actually tend to consider myself a sandwich person, because I'm not often much of a bread person. Bagels with cream cheese and jelly are delicious, though. I can go for fluffanutters, or peanut butter and jelly or jam or nutella or grilled cheese (and tomatos!), or tuna fish, or turkey and cheese. My jelly preferences are mint and raspberry.

11. What characteristic do you despise?
Clinginess, which is really just often a manifestation of glaring romantic insecurity. Please trust your partner, folks. They wouldn't be your partner if they didn't want to be with you, and would surely talk to you in a calm and sensible manner were that the case. (Ahahahaha, it's so funny pretending that everyone is all grown up and sensible and shit like that. So utterly untrue, but so funny!)
I don't generally 'despise' though, so *shrugs*. I just really dislike that one.

12. Favorite item of clothing?
Prrrobably my buttonjacket, specially what with the "belonging to my mother and to her father" thing. My orange River dress is incredibly hot-tastic, though.

13. If you could go anywhere in the world on vacation, where would you go?
Today, I'm thinking EnZed. I've little interest in travelling to places where I don't speak the language (though I'm apparently going to try and learn a bit of Italian next semester -lord help me) so that supremely limits things.
Though honestly...San Diego ComicCon. Worldcon would be nice too, but ComicCon, ohman.

14. Favorite brand of clothing?
I haven't bought any item of clothing from an actual store in ages. My clothes come from the internet, festivals and cons, and thriftstores!

15. Where would you retire to?
I'm planning on teaching until at least such a time as I can support myself off my writing and probably longer, and then writing for the rest of my (un)natural life. Also, I'm immortal, so retiring would get boring after a few centuries or so.

16. What was your most recent memorable birthday?
Memorable how? School keeps starting on my birthday, and I haven't seen my mother on my birthday in years and years. I've had nice birthdays, but nothing I would define as "memorable!". Although this year, I did have a pie, so that's pretty splendid.

17. Favorite sport to watch?
Icehouse. Actually, fuck it, there are no sports I like watching, except maybe gymnastics, and that's only if I absolutely can't find anything else to do. Sports are for playing, thanks.

18. Furthest place you are 'tagging' this?
I am going to tag Sashi now, just to get it as far as Pluto. I WIN, SUCKERS!

19. Person you expect to send it back first?
Well, Tal did it already, and she's kinda the memequeen around here, so I really don't know.

20. When is your birthday?
August 28th, 1989. One of my secret Xanth powers is making other people feel old.

21. Are you a morning person or a night person?
Both. I think that in an ideal sleep schedule, I would watch the sun rise from the correct direction, run until noon or so, sleep during the afternoon, and start doing things again around eight or nine at night.
...Oh my god, why have I not tried this before? That sounds brilliant!

22. What is your shoe size?
Seven womens or so, but I can usually squeeze my feet into a six if I have to, and my pink whoreheels are an eight.

23. Pets?
None. Back home there is Whimsy and TSoD (both cats) but neither is mine.

24. Any new and exciting news you'd like to share with us?
This is my livejournal, and no one should have any ability to censor its content except for me. Expect more on the subject to come later.
Oh, and I've been doing SCD for more than a year now. Woo!
Oh, and there are only about five days left of classes, and then finals. Woo?

25. What did you want to be when you were little?
I wanted to be a famous artist for a while, and then a famous writer for years and years and years. Currently, I want to be a famous writer of novels and stories and essays and comics (that I illustrate myself) when I grow up.

26. How are you today?
*shrugs* Ignoring stress of all the schoolwork I have to catch up with. On the plus side, I am completely unconcerned about my grades in three of my four classes.

27. What is your favorite candy?
My absolute favourite candy since 2006 is kinderbueno bars. They are German. My more recent "zohmgar, them furriners get better candys than us" candy that I love above pretty much all others is Coffee Crisps.
Locally, I quite like lemonheads, and try to have a handful around.

28. What is your favorite flower?
Happy.
I like obviously fake flowers --leather roses and Looney Labs happyflowers. And origami, of course. Real flowers wilt, after all.
Orange lilies are damn pretty though, if all else fails. And *waggles eyebrows* daisies.

29. What is a day on the calendar you are looking forward to?
The thirty-first of December and the first of January. And a whole bunch of other things as well, like 03/01, and 25/01, and the seventeenth of December and the sixteenth of January.

30. What's your full name?
At this point? Full full?
Katarina Ruth Danae de Whimsy de D***** de MOOP! den Earth den MOOP!
I enjoy long names. 'de' is Sorcycanon for "of the family of" 'den' is Sorcycanon for "of the world of" I am both of the ruling family of MOOP! and from the planet itself, hence the twice.

31. What are you listening to right now?
Nothing! D:
There! Rin picked 'Dancing Through Life' for me, which is not a bad choice.

32. What was the last thing you ate?
Bagel, apple juice, bag of chips. Mm, breakfast.

33. Do you wish on stars?
Every single night I see stars I wish on the first one I see. Some nights when I *can't* see stars, but need to, I wish on the night sky itself.
My most recent wish came *quite* true. *wickedgrin*

34. If you were a crayon, what color would you be?
Cra'n, thanks. And either sublime green or an entire spectrum of orange --orange because it's my colour, green because it's the colour of my magic.

35. How is the weather right now?
Outside somewhere. Not rainy, according to the twins.
Actually, recockulously nice from when I walked over this morning. I should go outside.

36. The first person you spoke to on the phone today?
I...haven't used my phone today, not as anything except an alarm. I am debating calling Drummer Dude, though, to wish him a happy birthday.

37. Favorite soft drink?
Myeh. Depends a little --I more consistently like fruit juices, especially apple juice and mango blends without a lot of cranberries or bananas. I usually go for Mountain Dew, root beer, Jones Creme Soda, and caffeine free coke.

38. Favorite restaurant?
Mr. Crepe!!!
The restaurant that I consider best in the area is Sugar & Spice, just in that everything I've tried from their is delicious. But come on. Crepes. (My favourite fast food is Chick-fil-a, and is one of the things I'm looking forward to about Maryland. It's possibly the only chain restaurant I have any love for, making it a secret shame, I suppose)

39. Real hair color?
Brown. Kinda a goldy-brown, but brown.
"gorgeous" and "goddess-like" are also acceptable answers.

40. What was your favorite toy as a child?
Geh. Barbies, then beanie babies. LEGOS. Actually, probably number one favourite thing is my marvelously overpowered minifig, Hack Rogers. She came to college with me. <3

41. Hugs or kisses?
Hugs! I like kisses lots and lots, but I don't like swapping them with strangers (often. >.>) and they can be all sloppy and shit.
My favourite hugs are when the other person is of a height to rest their chin on the top of my head. There aren't as many people who I fit into that well as I'd like, and I adore all of them for it. (Yes, I'm talking about you, Maccytu!)

42. Chocolate or vanilla?
Lemon, or caramel. Of just the two, vanilla.

43. Coffee or tea?
Oh, glorious bitter black coffee with three sugars. Which is the same way Warren Ellis drinks it, which makes me feel all warm and superior. Also, peppermint tea.

44. Do you want your friends to email you back?
This was apparently one of 'those' e-mails first. I kinda feel like I should send one to all of the old gang. Might be kinda fun.
In general, yes, I like it when people e-mail me back.

45. When was the last time you cried?
Uhm...not yesterday, or the day before. The last cry I can remember was in the middle of October, which is certainly not the last cry I've had, or even the last *big* cry. Oh, I was probably crying a little when I lost my ID the other night like the irresponsible fuck-up I am growing to accept I am.
According to BtW, the last time I cried was...18Nov. Which also sounds surprisingly far back, but also correct.

46. What is under your bed?
Lots and lots of stuff. Jewelry making supplies, costuming, and toys stick out. Also, bedding.

47. What did you do last night?
Among other things, went dancing.

48. What are you afraid of?
My child-fears are bogeymen in the dark, and possibly geese. My adult-fears are that I will die without having become immortal first, having to live in suburbia, and not being completely metaphorically free. (being physically trapped happened the moment I realized that this body is not designed for flying, and can't reach things on the top shelf). My both-fears are of being strangled or choked.

49. Salty or sweet?
Both. At the same time. I dip pretzels in frosting.

50. How many keys on your key ring?
Only one on the one I actually carry --my room key. I have four more keys though, on two other keyrings, though --house keys to get into Belmhaus and BDan's place.

51. Favorite day of the week?
Wednesday has been my preference since sixth grade or before, for reasons I'm not entirely clear on. Mondays mean dancing though, which is *lovely*

52. If you can choose your talent, what would it be?
Is this only talents that I don't already have? Projection (which is a sorcycanon magik, and a very powerful one), I suppose, although mimicry (in the Heroes sense) would be *awesome*.
No, that's a lie, being able to Heal people trumps just about anything else I want.
For real stuff? Dunno. I rolled high for my stats. Probably motivation, I guess.

53. Do you make friends easily?
Very. Outside of fandom, however, it's very difficult for me to make Friends.

54. How many people will you tag this to?
Everyone in the entire world except for Warren Ellis. IT DOES NOT END WITH YOU, KAT!

55. How many will respond?
Damned if I know. Who's bored, and willing to kill an hou...oh holy, crap have I really spent an hour on this, fuck, fuck, I have *things* I need to be doing.

3. Blood Freak. It is, god help us, apparently available on DVD.

13. Worldcon is closer, though. And is going to be awesome.

21. I have actually done this, and it's rather fun, though it does make it difficult to interact with most of the rest of the world. We should do it together sometime.

Completely unrelated but I don't have an address for you. Could you have Janny Blue poke Rob and make him call me? It is urgent and he is not answering my call. Thanks - MJ

My address is found here, and keep in mind that I will be out of town for a month from the 17th Dec to about the 17th Jan.

Do you still need Rob? I am sending a text along to Janny anyways.

Diamonds are not delicate and pearls are not rocks. Diamonds are one of the hardest substances known, and pearls are formed inside clams. :D

Somebody's been trying to censor your LJ?

Glad to be of hug-service. :D

Fah and more fah. Either way, they're froofy and girly. I'm not a huge fan of froofy and girly.

...yeah. Kinda. Longstoryshort, Ksatyr was highly against the idea of me posting about my relationships post-him. It's been a year, I think that I should stop biting my tongue.

I am also glad!

Ahh. That's...stupid. The largest imposition I'd see as allowable would be a simple request that you put any relationship stuff behind a cut or lock and filter him out. I'd say you should have stopped biting your tongue a long time ago. :)

As you probably saw, V had similar but opposing worries about posting about her now-not-so-new-anymore boyfriend with me reading. I told her it's her LJ, it's not like anybody reading is being forced into it; if I didn't like it, I didn't have to read. The same principle applies here, I think.

Ah, I worded badly. He wanted me to do more of what you were suggesting --lock him out, which runs counter to my programming --I have at least four people who I know of who read my elljay anonymously from time to time, and I like to keep them in the loop. Furthermore, at the time, he had defriended me, so really, I didn't think it was much of a problem to say what I needed.

I disagree. The largest imposition I see as even vaguely reasonable would be a simple relationship that relationship stuff be behind a cut tag, and/or to tag posts as such. These are tools to allow readers to self-select what they want to read.

Filters are tools to allow authors to select whom they want to allow to read what's written. Requesting that an author create permission sets just so they can use them to deny you the ability to see things they write is completely unreasonable. I feel strongly about this.

That is, I disagree with that one little bit of what you say; I strongly agree with the rest.

Yeah, it's too bad LJ doesn't make it easy to filter what you read based on tags. Probably 80% of the filters in use right now should be replaced with tags and filters on the reader's end; it would be more expressive and more intuitive.

Gah, sorry; rant off.

I would not dispute any assertion that all blogging systems suck.

I'm willing to go so far as to advance the assertion that all blog comment systems suck.

I dunno, LJ's comment system isn't too terrible. It's certainly better than all the systems that don't even allow threads.

Have issues, yes, suck all around, I'm not so sure. Of course there are sucky ones, but there are some that aren't so bad. Wordpress is nice, if you have full control of it (ie, host it yourself) and configure it well. LJ is nice if you have a paid account.
